A 16 week
curriculum designed to help connect children with their inherent
worth and dignity and that of others through communication skills
emphasizing feelings, universal needs, empathy for self and others,
gratitude, understanding anger, conflict resolution, and active
peacemaking.
Based on Marshall
Rosenberg’s model of “Nonviolent Communication”,
also known as Compassionate Communication.
Movement,
activities, games, art, stories, songs, discussion and time in
nature address the need for fun, creativity, celebration and
different learning styles. Each lesson references UU Principles and
Sources.
16 lessons.
Suggestions included on how to adapt to 6 weeks through 14 weeks.
Three age
groupings: Pre-Kindergarten-1st grade, 2nd-4th
grade, 5th-6th grade. Available separately or
as a package.

Our
goal is to keep this curriculum affordable to make it possible for
many congregations to use it as a way to promote deep understanding
of the skills necessary to engage in peace within oneself, with
others and with our precious Earth. Some lessons include stories and
reading selections (you most likely can borrow these books from your
local library).
