Biography
Mim Chapman, PhD, UUPA At Large Trustee (2011)
Mim joined Anchorage Alaska UU Fellowship in 1991 and is now also a member of the UU Congregation of Santa Fe in New Mexico. In Anchorage, she gave Sunday sermons on topics ranging from "Polyamory" to "God?" to "India: Feisty Feminine Faces of Deity" and was active in Social Justice and Welcoming Congregation Committees. In Santa Fe, she has been a Worship Associate, a member of the Membership Committee and Diversity Committee, and a co-leader of the Welcoming Congregation seminars.
Mim has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and a Masters in Counseling. She is a certified Myers-Briggs trainer and sex educator. Work experience includes commercial fishing, civil rights activism, marine salvage, political lobbying, fund-raising, and education, having served as a teacher, principal and college professor for many years. She was Alaska’s 1991 "Curriculum Leader of the Year,” Toastmaster's 1994 "Communicator of the Year,” and the YWCA/British Petroleum 1996 "Woman of Achievement." Publications include numerous articles and a textbook on school reform. Mim’s recent creative project was a performance arts sex education piece called THE VP (vagina-penis) DIALOGUES, performed in Alaska in 2003 and by her Santa Fe UU Congregation in 2007. She travels extensively providing training and consulting, workshops on Intimacy and Aging, and relationship coaching in person and by phone for individuals, couples, and people in non-traditional family configurations. |
